Leonard Family - Lenoir (Bobbie) Inez Leonard - Pictures - page 1

Lenoir Inez Leonard Triplett
Lenoir Inez Leonard (Bobbie) was born in Sugar Grove, Kane County, Illinois, on 30 May 1904. Her parents were Frederick George Leonard and Winnie Gladys Carpenter Leonard. She was my mother's mother.

This is Bobbie and a school friend taken before Bobbie and her family moved to California. She was not happy leaving Illinois. I found the ring that her boyfriend gave her before they left.

She also wanted to go to a teacher's college.

When I look at this picture - I see my face. I guess I know what side of the family I look like!

I really like this picture. It was taken around 1922. So, you might be asking "Why is Bobbie laughing?" The photographer had her take her glasses off. You can see them on her lap.  She was as blind as a bat and couldn't read anything on that page she is looking at unless it was written at least 1- inch tall, in black, block letters!

Lenoir (Bobbie) Inez Leonard Triplett, in front of the garage at her and Grandpa's home on Illinois Ave, Fresno California. My mother could not date this picture, so I will list it as prior to 1949.

In 1949 my mother, Lorna, Aunt Fred, Bobbie and Grandpa Triplett went on a 2 week trip to Utah (Bryce and Zion Canyon National Parks). They also went to Salt Lake City. While they were there, they went to the Temple, now across from the Family History Library. They then went on through the area of Lake Tahoe Nevada, and then down to Fresno.
During that trip Bobbie became more irrational to the point that my mother, Lorna, took a Greyhound Bus to Fresno. She left from Salta Lake City and got into Fresno in the middle of the night. She had become overwhelmed by her mother's worsening mental condition.

Shortly after Aunt Fred, Bobbie and Grandpa arrived back to Fresno, Bobbie went to her physician, who could not pin-point what was the cause of her mental disorder.

The story was that the family finally took Bobbie to a psychiatrist. During his physical exam, I have been told, he looked into her eyes. Supposedly he said that he saw abnormal structures (I guess).

Bobbie was sent for x-rays. They were taken to the basement of Fresno Community  Hospital. My grandpa and Lorna had to carry Bobbie in a chair with down the the Radiology Department. After the x-rays were taken, I have been told that the med tech looked at Grandpa and Lorna and something such as "I don't need to be an MD to know what I am looking at in these x-rays."

Bobbie's last 2 weeks of life were spent in a nursing home in Fresno. She died December 31, 1949.
It was 15 minutes short of the New Year. She was surrounded by family.

One of Mom's last gifts to her was a beautiful nightgown - which she never wore. My Mom and a friend - maybe San - took back the gown. When the the sales lady asked why she was bringing back the nightgown, Mom broke out in tears.

On 2 January 1950 Bobbie was buried in Belmont Memorial Cemetery, off of west Belmont Ave., in Fresno California. The grave to the left of her's is my grandfather Shirley Greene (Trip) Triplett who died in October 1982.

Leonard Family - Children of Frederick George Leonard and Winnie Gladys Carpenter Leonard

I do not know when I received these photos, unless it was when my parents moved with us to Wyoming in December 2004.
I am thinking that this picture was not taken at the family's home, but at a friend's house. I have no idea whose dog is pictured with: Winnifred (left), Ione (middle) Lenoir (right), Maple Park, Illinois, 1916.

In the picture below Harry Webber is standing, Ione (Billie, 10 months, is sitting on the stool), Lenoir (Bobbie, 2 years old or so is in the middle) and Winnifred (Aunt Fred, is standing, behind Bobbie). This picture was hanging on the wall at the bottom of the stairs at the Miracle Street house in Casper Wyoming.
I am not sure if Harry Webber was a relative or a friend of the family. I have tried to find him in Ancestry and did find a Harold Webber who was born in 1896 and was living in La Salle, Illinois when he registered for draft for the World War 1. Supposedly he was killed during the war.

This picture was taken at the Weber Farm in Bristol Illinois. It is of Ione and the dog Bill. I do not know the date it was taken. I am also thinking that the dog in the picture was from the farm. Or maybe the Leonards purchased the dog from the Webers.

I am assuming that this picture of the 3 girls is at their home. It was probably during winter. I only say that because of the coats, hats and the muff that Aunt Billie is hold with her hands. As we look at the picture, I believe that Lenoir (Bobbie, is on the left), Winnifred (Fred, is in the center) and Ione (Billie, is on the right).

This picture might have been taken on either the girl's, or maybe their Grandmother Olive Pruitt's front porch. Winniefred, or Aunt Fred as I knew her, is on the left. My Grandmother Lenoir, also known as Bobbie, is on the right.

The picture below is of our relatives and ancestors. The names of the people listed were on the back of the photo. In the front row, left to right is:
Marian Woodstock, Alaric Fisher, Leo Carpenter, Louis Carpenter, Lyle Woodstock

In the back row left to right:
Lenoir Leonard [Bobbie, my mother's mother], Ione Leonard [Aunt Billie], Jay Fisher, Cleo Carpenter, Winnifred Leonard [Aunt Fred].

The only people that I can identity in this picture are: Ione (Aunt Billie on the far left), Lenoir (Grandmother Bobbie, 3rd from left), Winnifred 4th from left). I only know these names as related to the picture because they were written on the back.

I do not know the exact date or place that  this picture of Lenoir (Bobbie) Leonard was taken. I would hazard a guess and say that she was 7 or 8 years old.

I do not know where this picture was taken, but am assuming in Illinois. I do not know, but would guess that the family could have taken a trip to Wisconsin to see family and it could have been taken there. Winnie Carpenter Leonard, also known as Great Grandma Leonard is the adult standing. Left to right Lenoir (Bobbie is standing), Winnifred (Fred) is sitting in the foreground, and Ione (Billie) is on the right in the picture. Maybe it was a Father's Day gift?

The 2 pictures below are of: Winnie Gladys Carpenter Leonard (alone).

The picture below the first is of: Lenoir (Bobbie, standing to the right of the picture), Olive Fisher Leonard  Pruitt, (center), and Winnifred (Fred, who is sitting). They are on the same porch that was in the picture above.

Winnifred (Fred) and Lenoir (Bobbie) Leonard (left to right). I think this was taken before Aunt Billie was born.
